The Committee has decided to postpone the Opening Rally at the Roseville Golf Course scheduled for 6 February 2022. Instead, the Committee has arranged a socially distanced drive at the end of which people may depart home, picnic or eat at a local hostelry.

Date: Sunday 6 February 2022

Place: Cowan Truck Stop Old Pacific Highway Cowan

Time: 9 am for a 9.30 am (sharp) departure

Finish: On arrival at the stock reserve outside the Settlers Arms Hotel at St Albans

Distance: 120 kms

Drive time: Approx 2 ½ hours

Route instructions: These will be available at the start or by arrangement they can be sent by email no later than 4 pm on 5 February.

Roads: We are checking these. There is a small section of gravel between Wiseman’s Ferry and St Albans but there is an alternate sealed route. The roads usually have light traffic and are predominantly posted at 60 or 80 kph speeds. Thus is it is suitable for slower vintage cars, or whimsical meandering.

Wet weather: Absent and widespread flooding in the Hawkesbury region, the event is ON in the event of inclement weather

Lunch:

This is optional. Nobody should feel sensitive about doing the drive and heading home straight afterwards if they are concerned about contracting COVID. This would be the COVID safe option.

Alternatively, you can picnic at the stock reserve or beside one of the rural roads in the area.

Alternatively, you could dine at the Settlers Arms but there may be others out for a drive on the day leading to delay which is why we recommend a prompt start at 9.30 so you can be head of the queue. There are tables out the back in the garden. This would carry a higher COVID risk.

Club plates: This is a Club plate event so make sure you carry your memberships card (contact Rees well before the event if you do not have one) and a copy of the revised Club calendar attached to this newsletter) in your car on the day.
